Three Counties Join the BB2C Network

The goal of the BB2C Network is to support stakeholders, leaders, and organizations throughout Southeastern Ohio and beyond who are interested in making Community and Career Connected Learning opportunities available to their students. To develop these opportunities in their communities, the first step involves convening community members who represent diverse groups from various fields, industries, and sectors to focus on workforce needs, common assets, and investing in youth for community regeneration.

Highland, Fayette, and Ross Counties’ major manufacturers, employers, and government officials have been meeting for over a year and a half to discuss local workforce issues and needs. Employers in the county are looking to scale up, to add shifts and expand operations. But filling the positions needed has presented unforeseen issues.

BB2C staff members who developing and supporting the BB2C Network were invited to talk with the stakeholders in these counties about innovative, long-term strategies to build the workforce in the county. Our staff talked about the need to increase community connections, career exploration, and exposure opportunities in K-12 curriculum, as students are the future workforce.

Highland, Fayette, and Ross Counties are joining forces with BB2C through the BB2C Network to build place-based programs to expand students' knowledge of employers in the community and give them experience with jobs that are available right in their hometowns.

Learn how your community, organization, or county can become a part of the BB2C Network by emailing Allison Ricket, BB2C Network Director, at aricket@bb2careers.org.
