Interns in Appalachia
BECAs, organizations that conduct work around business engagement with career awareness, were busy connecting high school students in Appalachia with business internship opportunities this past summer. The BB2C Network was able to support these organizations, such as Project RISE in Athens. Hear from our Network Team, as well as from the interns themselves:

I had a wonderful time interning at Trouvaille Farm. I learned about the microbiology of soil, how to care for a diverse variety of plants, and the process of making chocolate. I hope I'll get the opportunity to come back next summer.

I decided to do this internship because I had nothing better to do this summer...but I quickly became emotionally involved in two projects, website design and GIS locating; the latter of which I had no idea even existed. I gained experience in areas that I would have never guessed I found interesting.

It has been a great opportunity to give back to my community while learning more about my community, it’s past, and its people.
