Stories from the Epicenter
“Education After Hours is more than just a networking event — it’s an opportunity to continually invest in our community,” said Dan Weaver, BB2C board member and Vice President of HR and Support Services of Memorial Health System. “When businesses, educators, and community leaders collaborate, students gain access to opportunities that prepare them for success. Moreover, these same students are provided with opportunities and careers right here in our own community. Keeping these students here in our community is essential to meeting future workforce needs and BB2C is instrumental in coordinating those collaborations".
STEAM Stories is more than just a career resource—it’s a bridge between students and professionals in their communities. The project collects real-life stories from post-secondary students, professors, and professionals in various STEAM fields. Share your STEAM story to inspire students with their future careers.
Jeremy Ward, BB2C Network Director explained, “Through our work with CivicLab, we look to amplify the positive work already underway in Appalachian Ohio. System building will help us leverage partnerships and strengthen practices to continue our mission to foster relationships that inspire career choice. Dissolving barriers and aligning efforts and initiatives will lead to stronger student agency and awareness of pathways in our region.” Contact us to learn more.
For many students, job shadowing provides an invaluable opportunity to explore potential career pathways firsthand. For McKenzie DeLong, a 10th grader at Marietta High School, shadowing Evan Pugh, the Creative Director-Parkersburg Market at Seven Mountains Media, was an eye-opening experience that deepened her passion for graphic design and video production.
