BB2C Student Ambassadors!
As the school year progresses, you will be hearing more and more about our student ambassadors. Our ambassadors have participated in BB2C programs and use those experiences to get other students involved. Who better to get the word to students about our programs than other students? Keep an eye out on our website to get to know our ambassadors. For now, we’ll let them tell you why they wanted to be involved in the ambassador program.
In their own words…
I wanted to be an ambassador for the sole purpose of giving an extra hand to my classmates. Being in such a small community has shown me that no one hesitates to help one another and I want to contribute in the same way. School alone is a stressful time filled with exams and semester projects and the thought of life after is very overwhelming! I hope to be able to alleviate some stress by helping my school community explore career options in an enriching way that will affect them in the long run. As of today, I've spread the word about job shadowing opportunities and have been working towards preparing my school for BB2C events and presentations. Williamstown is new to this process and instead of blindly having students fill out paperwork for a program they don't understand, I hope to clarify previous miscommunications and encourage more students to participate by giving them accounts of my own experiences. All in all, my passion for a career in mental health has been solidified through the help of this program and this position allows me to expand my communication skills. I cannot wait to see what this year brings! ~Victoria Gaston, senior, Williamstown HS
I wanted to be an ambassador because I had experienced first hand the perks of being a part of BB2C. I want to extend this to the students of my school and help out. Help people find what they want to do, help people experience new things. I just want to help in any way I can. I am currently working on ideas on how to promote Family Career Awareness Day and am coming up with different ideas to help promote what BB2C can offer the students at Marietta High School. I plan on promoting other events, getting the students familiar with BB2C, talking with students and teachers about important things they should know about, and so much more to come. I can't wait to see what happens! ~Anastasia Nichols, Junior, Marietta High School
I wanted to be a student ambassador because I knew I had the skills for what it took. I also wanted to be more involved with the BB2C program and mostly Frontier High School. We have met with the mentors. We've been communicating with all the students. I've talked to BB2C staff about internships and job shadowing. We also got a club set up in our school called FTI. FTI is a club that's based on mental health and positivity in the school. We have a meeting set up to talk with Hopewell, and we've been working with the WC Behavioral health board. Well, now that we have the club set up we are wanting more students from Frontier High and Middle School to join. To do that, we are making a presentation to get the students more aware of FTI. We want more people involved with our community, and with BB2C. We want our students to learn more about their career choices. ~Chelsi Phillis, junior, Frontier High School
Destiny Rone, a sophomore from Frontier High School, is another ambassador involved in the TI program and through that program became very excited about learning more about BB2C and helping other students get involved.
As you can see, our ambassadors are well on their way to getting other students involved in BB2C programs! Thank you to our ambassadors for all the hard work they are already doing and will continue to do during the year. If you are a student and would like to be a student ambassador, please go to buildingbridgestocareers.org/studentambassador and fill out an application by November 15th. We look forward to seeing all that our ambassadors can accomplish!
