Meet Our New Makerspace Coordinator
My name is Jared Wittekind and I am exciting to serve as Makerspace Coordinator for Building Bridges to Careers. As Makerspace coordinator, it is my hope that I can provide those who want to enrich their lives through honing their skills as hobbyists or learning how to use equipment that can help build their business or employment skills.
I was born and raised in Marietta, Ohio with three older sisters. While attending Warren High School, my parents insisted that I spend summers helping with their remodeling projects. After high school, I attended the University of Charleston where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a focus in Public Relations. In college, I met my wife KC. We connected through college choir and musical theatre. After college, she became a government travel agent and we have been roaming the world in our free time ever since.
When I am not working or traveling, I enjoy playing guitar, board gaming with my wife and friends, and woodworking. I find that I am happiest when I am learning new skills; especially those that involve making things. The concept of turning raw materials into something useful or beautiful has always been dear to me. I discovered Makerspace online one day when searching to see if there was a place within the Mid-Ohio Valley that could help me improve my woodworking abilities and was pleasantly surprised to find the array of services that Makerspace provided vastly exceeded my expectations.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Building Bridges to Careers team. I look forward to seeing all we can accomplish within the maker community and beyond. Let’s build something great together!
