What's "Making" at the Makerspace?

BB2C is known for our work fostering relationships to inspire career choice. Everything we do is to bridge the gap between education and employment. And that includes both of our projects: the BB2C Small Business Incubator and the BB2C Makerspace.

If you haven’t stopped by in a while to see our Makerspace, now is a great time to do so! Our Makerspace offers seven different spaces, including our newest space, the Media Space, and our newly relocated Tech Space. The other spaces at the Makerspace are the Creative Arts Space, Fiber Arts Space, Laser Space, Stained Glass Space, and Woodshop. These spaces are available for use by visitors and members alike. We also have a large community space, perfect to host your next event! And we offer numerous classes each week in a variety of our spaces. Makerspace classes are open to anyone who would like to take them (age requirements as noted).

Our Makerspace also is open for groups to use for school & youth field trips, professional trainings and events, parties, and retreats. And our partnership with Washington County Public Library means that WCPL card holders have free access to specific tools and classes. Call or visit us to find out more!

Right now, our Makerspace just finished their inaugural 2x4 Challenge. Head over to the BB2C Makerspace Facebook Page to vote on your favorite of our three entries! The one with the most likes through April 9th will win the People’s Choice Award. And a second design will receive the Judges’ Choice Award. Both award winners will receive a $50 gift card to the Busy Bee restaurant and a $50 gift card to the Habitat for Humanity Restore.

Tonight, come down to see the BB2C Makerspace’s “Peep” Show sculpture, which will be located in front of Rockstar Wellness, 225 Second St., from 5-9 p.m. Bring your dollars with you to vote on your favorite sculptures downtown. There are 17 different and unique ones scattered around Front and Second Street as part of Marietta Main Street’s April First Friday.

And finally, keep an eye out for more information about out upcoming Summer S.T.E.A.M. Camp opportunities for students!
