Life…For Real!
The Sixth Annual Career Mentor Program Field Trip to Marietta College was a huge success. A total of 60 students from all six districts in Washington County along with 21 mentors came together on Friday, February 24th for a look at Life…For Real!
Students and mentors participated in a series of fun and engaging activities that helped them identify potential career paths, self-regulation skills, and important life skills such as how to budget and salaries expected in various career categories.
A standout favorite of the day was a Game of Life simulation where students learned about the grown-up world. Comments included: “I get to know how life will be in the future,” and “I picked the Game of Life because it made me go through certain situations that I might face in real life.”
Others commented that they enjoyed the session on Self-Regulation because they got to make stress balls or a fidget bracelet: “Self-Regulation session because it was messy and fun,” and “The stress ball cause it helps you lose your stress.”
Rounding out the activities were a Career Cluster survey, budget session, and a Metaphorical Thinking exercise. Of course, students also enjoyed lunch, the bus ride, and just being with their friends and meeting students from other districts.
