Check Out Tech!
Our Tech Space has become a whole lot more interesting! The Tech Space is one of seven unique spaces in the BB2C Makerspace, located in our Epicenter at 107 Lancaster St. Marietta, OH 45750. Our other six spaces are our Creative Art Space, Fiber Art Space, Laser Space, Media Space, Stained Glass Space, and our Woodshop. Together they provide a community hub for creativity and hands-on learning in Washington County.
In April, Westlake Dimex provided a sponsorship to the Tech Space, which allowed us to move it to a larger room and expand it. The expansion includes enhancing our 3D filament and resin printing offerings. We can now offer rapid prototyping services through our 3D printers as well as better showcase machining skills and 3D modeling. These new and updated opportunities allow us to better serve entrepreneurs and small business owners, offer additional community classes around 3D printing, and inspire interest in manufacturing and technology among students who visit the Makerspace through fieldtrips.
We are also in the process of updating our Fiber Arts Space and our Creative Arts Space. Ensuring that we have specialized equipment and expertise available to our students, entrepreneurs, and community members to build skills and explore different options is core to BB2C’s mission of inspiring career choice and our vision of successful students, prosperous businesses, and thriving communities.
If you haven’t stopped by lately, the BB2C Makerspace is open to the community on Mondays from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can follow the Makerspace on social media to see upcoming classes, including our Introduction to Resin Printing happening on May 23 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Educators are encouraged to reach out to us to schedule field trips for the 2023-2024 school year. Our calendar fills up fast, so request a field trip date now.
