New Faces at BB2C!

Emily with her husband, son, and dog. Jenna at the Boys & Girls Club with two of their kids.

BB2C welcomed two new staff members just in time for the start of the school year!

Emily Bentley joined our Network Team as our Education Engagement Specialist. She will be working with educators around the region to integrate community and career connected learning into classrooms, schools, and school districts. As part of BB2C’s Network Team, she’ll help to support schools and organizations through relationship building, resource sharing, and capacity building. While her role in the Network Team will focus on working across Southeastern Ohio, she’lll also work with our Washington County Youth Career Development Team to support educators in Washington County.

Emily shared that before joining BB2C, learning about community and career connected learning as a collaborative approach for systems change filled a gap that she had personally experienced and wanted to help fill.

Three interesting things about Emily include:

1.     She taught at an alternative school and public middle school in Eastern North Carolina with Teach for America before teaching 9th Grade Physical Science at Logan High School for 8 years.

2.     She lives in Athens, OH with her husband Tadgh, 4-year-old son Fionn, and dog Atticus.

3.     She enjoys adventures- whether it being outside, traveling, or attending community & cultural events in the region.

Jenna Stewart joined our Washington County Youth Career Development Team as our Career Pathway Specialist. She will be working directly with students in Washington County to support them in their career journey, whatever it may be. She’ll help them with resume building, scholarship applications, job shadow reference, and more. Success looks different for every student and her goal is to be a helping hand as they work towards their goals.

When asked what drew her to BB2C, Jenna shared that for her, it is the importance of getting students to explore their career paths on a deeper level than just a Google search. Getting them to walk through the doors can be enough for them to visualize themselves thriving in that environment, and that is what she is looking forward to doing in her position.

Three interesting things about Jenna include:

1.     Her first job was technically as a Disney princess. She would dress up as Elsa from Frozen and go to children’s birthday parties, parades, and elementary schools.

2.     She worked for the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County for 7 years. During her time with the organization she had been in almost every position possible.

3.     She likes to relax with video games such as Guitar Hero, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing and by starting crochet projects and never finishing them.
