Ohio Minor Labor Laws Explained
In this session, you will have a rundown of Ohio’s regulations regarding minors in the workplace. The presentation will include an explanation of hours, types of jobs, restrictions, and prohibitions. There will also be a brief discussion regarding a new program available for employers as well as a Q&A period.
Steps to Success for Connecting with Students
Bret Allphin, Senior Program Manager of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) and Marietta City Council Member, has been involved with Community & Career Connected Learning for the past decade. He will share insights with business and community representatives about the best way to engage with students, educators, and schools. He will also discuss solutions to challenges that could arise.

BEYOND A CAREER FAIR: Impactful career exploration events for students, businesses, and educators
The number one indicator of a student’s career choice is an experience they had with a field or industry before graduation. Increasing the career opportunities that students are exposed to is key in helping them develop a career pathway that builds upon their education experience and connects them to the economic opportunities in their communities. Career exploration events are a great way to provide students with either a broad overview or a more in-depth understanding of what is available to them that meets their interests and aptitudes. Hear from a panel of staff, business representatives, and educators who have been involved in different career exploration events.
CAREER EXPLORATION IN K-12 EDUCATION: Foundations for the Future

PATH-MAKER SUCCESS: Creating Win-Win Student Placements with Businesses
This session provides models and examples that equip young learners with practical skills and exposures aligned to their career interests through hands-on experiences. See how creating opportunities to explore various industries and empowering students to make informed decisions about their futures also builds valuable connections with local business professionals. Learn how our partners foster community engagement by strengthening ties between schools and businesses and promoting support for youth development.
REAL WORLD PROBLEM SOLVING: Positive Impacts on Students, Businesses, & Classrooms
Real World Problem Scenario (RWPS) pairs a local business partner with a classroom teacher to help students learn about local opportunities and the skills required to be successful in local industries. Hear from educators and businesses who have been involved in RWPS. Discover how this program impacts students, educators, businesses, and communities positively and how you can engage your school or business.
