Family Career Awareness Day: Your Chance To Meet Your Future Workforce!
Businesses, have you registered to attend Family Career Awareness Day? If not, now is the time so that you can meet your future workforce! Where are your future employees coming from? Why, our youth of today, of course! You don’t want to miss this opportunity to cultivate relationships with students AND their families. Parents are one of the most influential career factors for our students. By talking with parents and showcasing your company, you will give them the information they need to support their child in their career path. That career path may very well lead to you in the future.
What exactly is Family Career Awareness Day? It is a career fair for students grades 7-12 and their parents. The event promotes information about local companies to our youth and their families. They discover the multitude of careers and jobs within your company. As a business, you know how many different parts and pieces it takes to have a successful company. Students can only pursue those opportunities with you if they know about them. Later when you are at a job fair and are actively hiring these students, they already have experience in that environment and are prepared to take the next step with you. Who knows, you may even make connections with parents resulting in them becoming your employee as well. Companies have told us this happens!
Last year approximately 300 students and parents attended. This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to get a lot of career information in a short period of time. When asked by a business what they were interested in for a career, an 8th grader responded, “I thought I wanted to be a lawyer until I came here. I didn’t know there was so much.” We want to help you build your local workforce. For us to do that, students and parents need to know all the careers your company has to offer. We are focusing on teaching the students to begin networking at an early age. This is your chance to network with them and begin building those relationships that can later impact your workforce development. Don’t wait! Register now at the following link:
