2 Years Down...Many More to Come!

When the Makerspace was started in January of 2018 few could have imagined what it would become in just two short years. Our second year was filled with public appearances to continue spreading the word of the Makerspace to more members of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Between all of our events in 2019: public appearances, group tours, class attendance, memberships, Makerspace tours and open houses, we reached well over 1,000 people throughout the year. We added equipment to the Woodshop, Laser space, and 3D printing space, plus we added three sewing machines to our fiber arts area! We also added one whole new space at the request of the community. Our stained glass area has been busy with classes and new members making their own projects. Our next class is already full and the last class in January only has a single opening left.

I’d like to thank a few of those who have helped the Makerspace make so much progress in 2019.

  • All of our Content Experts who are great at coming up with and teaching their content to the community;

  • Buckeye Hills Regional Council, the Washington County Career Center, and the Washington County Public Library for all of their continued support;

  • I also want to thank 3 local businesses who have all helped spark the quick progress in 2019 by partnering on projects and helping with equipment Micro Machine Works, Grimm Scientific, and Pickering Associates; and

  • Most importantly, Building Bridges to Careers who started the Makerspace for the Mid-Ohio Valley community.

We hope that by the end of 2020 we are no longer the best kept secret in the area! You can help us achieve this by:

  • Forwarding this email/blog to those that are interested in making and creating

  • Liking our Facebook Page

  • Following our Facebook Group

  • Participate in our upcoming surveys on how to better serve our community in 2020

As a non-profit, our goal of helping our community and youth make, create, and learn new technology remains our driving force.
