Where Are They Now: Jared Farnsworth

By Tonya Davis

We love when we have updates to share about past BB2C program participants.  This one is about Jared Farnsworth, a past participant in our job shadowing and internship programs.

Jared’s internship consisted of a hybrid partnership between Operator Training Committee of Ohio (OTCO) and our BB2C Epicenter. It included participating in a round table discussion with Lieutenant Governor Husted regarding workforce development in Southeast Ohio.  And being in our Voinovich internship video.  Also during his time with BB2C, Jared also passed his basic level EMT certification and participated in the HPAC program at a college level.

Jared is beginning his second year of college and has accomplished much in the short time since his graduation.  He is currently working as an EMT and is on the career pathway to become a physician’s assistant.  He has also hosted a job shadowing student himself.  On behalf of BB2C, he spoke with a student from Noble County who is interested in becoming an EMT and wants to become a doctor.

Jared updated us about his most recent achievements and reflected on his experience of going from a job shadowing student to being a host for a job shadowing student:

“Filling the role of a shadow host instead of a student was very rewarding. I've finally been able to see shadowing from both perspectives, how each piece works together, and the importance of every role in shadowing. I'm now a Nationally Registered Advanced Emergency Medical Technician running volunteer EMS with Little Muskingum VFD. As an advanced EMT I can provide ALS care like IV's, administer medications, and interpret cardiac rhythms. I'm also a certified Stop The Bleed instructor, and I'm currently dual enrolled at WSCC and Marietta College with a major in Health Science, with a plan to become a Physician Assistant and practice locally in the Mid-Ohio Valley.”

We are so excited to share an update about Jared’s pathway and all of his past and current accomplishments.  Keep up the good work, Jared, and we look forward to continuing to work with you here at BB2C
