Family Career Fest!

Students and families engage with local businesses and organizations at BB2C’s 2023 event.

BB2C is hosting its annual Family Career Fest (previously known as Family Career Awareness Day). This inspiring event is designed to bring together students and their families along with educators, businesses, and community leaders to explore career opportunities. Hosted at the Junior Fair Building at the Washington County Fair Groups (922 Front St. Marietta, OH 45750), the Family Career Fest aims to bridge the gap between students' dreams and the tangible steps needed to achieve them, fostering connections between education, career paths, and community support.

This year’s event will be bustling with booths and activities designed to engage 7th - 12th graders. Representatives from a wide range of industries—technology, healthcare, engineering, education, and more—will be available to talk one-on-one with students and their families. This direct engagement allows families to get an in-depth look at different fields, ask questions, and receive advice from professionals who understand the nuances of their careers.

One of the unique highlights of this year’s Family Career Fest will be the Career Kick-Start Clinics, which will allow families to explore important career skills like resume building, interview preparation, and networking. Led by career coaches and industry experts, these workshops will provide participants with valuable insights into what employers are looking for and practical tips on how to be successful personally and professionally.

Dinner will be provided to all participants for free, thanks to our sponsors and Dough Boyz Pizzeria. Door prizes will be given throughout the evening. Additional resources and “next steps” will also be shared. BB2C’s Community & Career Connected Learning Coordinator, Kristi Leonard-Webber, shared, “This is an event for families to learn about opportunities in our area, and for businesses to network with their future workforce and build a stronger community.”
