Prosperous Businesses and Career Exploration

BB2C’s Small Business Incubator (SBI) is supporting startups and small businesses with a unique blend of mentorship, resources, and community engagement. Originally born from a state-level initiative to engage students through the Young Entrepreneur Consortium, BB2C officially launched the incubator in 2017, subdividing a large space at the Armory into three business spaces. By 2018, BB2C moved to 107 Lancaster Street, expanding its facilities to offer more business spaces and launching a Makerspace.

At the core of SBI’s mission is its commitment to student involvement. As a condition of membership, businesses contribute to career exploration initiatives like Family Career Fest and Discover Days, or they offer practical learning experiences through job shadowing and internships. This not only provides businesses with a meaningful way to give back but also equips local students with valuable career exposure.

The incubator has made a substantial economic impact. Since its inception, it has facilitated 11 new business starts, created 25 jobs, and infused over $1 million in capital. BB2C also supports Ohio entrepreneurs financially through its revolving loan fund, which provides loans up to $50,000 for machinery, equipment, renovations, and working capital. The favorable terms, with interest rates as low as 4% and a maximum 60-month repayment period, make it an accessible funding source for growing businesses.

In addition to funding, SBI offers a comprehensive support system that includes business coaching, networking opportunities, and essential resources like office space, internet, and a conference room. With 25 Entrepreneurs in Residence and 137 non-resident businesses since 2017, BB2C has cultivated a thriving community of entrepreneurs across diverse industries.

Through its innovative approach, BB2C’s Small Business Incubator is fostering economic growth and creating a vibrant environment for business success in the local community.
