New Year, New Makerspace Highlights!

The BB2C Makerspace shifted its focus in 2024, from classes to an increased focus on our members. This shift has brought about several positive changes to the Makerspace. If you have visited recently, you would have noticed that it has been buzzing with even more creative energy than usual! This is due both to the holiday season as well as the influx of new members we've recently gained. We have a number of things to highlight, as 2024 comes to a close and we look forward to 2025.

Our first Makerspace highlight is a change that we made this past year around signing up for classes. Makerspace members and community members can still sign up for pre-set classes by visiting our Makerspace webpage and scrolling through the schedule (be sure to check back often for new options). But now they can also request a custom class based on their availability and interest by clicking the Class Request Form on the webpage. Signing up for a Makerspace class is a great way to start the new year! We are always excited to see what amazing projects and skills makers are working on.

The Makerspace Store in the lobby of our Makerspace is a great place to purchase unique, locally-made treasures.

Our next highlight is an exciting addition- the Makerspace Store! With the addition of the Makerspace Store, we now have a dedicated retail area in the lobby of the Makerspace to showcase and sell the creations of our incredibly talented members. The shelves are packed with everything from hand-crafted bowls and wooden puzzles to 3D prints and stained glass pieces. Stop by and discover unique, locally-made treasures.

Our third highlight is the addition of three new 3D printers in our Tech Space! With increased traffic and use in the space, we've added three Bambu P1S printers to accommodate our members' printing needs better.

We're thrilled to see the Makerspace thriving and look forward to continuing to provide a supportive and inspiring environment for all! Makerspace memberships start at only $20 per month. As always, field trips and group visits are available to educators, organizations, and community members. Contact makerspace@bb2careers.org for more information.
