BB2C staff check in Summit participants in 2022

BB2C is hosting our 2023 Community and Career Connected Learning Summit this month! It is happening on Friday, September 22 at Southern State Community College Brown County Campus. We are excited to be welcoming over thirty school, business, and community leaders who will be sharing the power of collaborative relationships to bridge the gap between education and employment. Sessions will explore different models of Community and Career Connected Learning.

Community and Career Connected Learning (CCCL) is a learning system integrating community partnerships and career awareness into experiential, place-based learning. This is a collaborative approach that engages schools, businesses, and community organizations to support successful students, prosperous businesses, and thriving communities. What it looks like depends on the people involved, the places engaged, and the purpose of the model being used.

CCCL emerged from the cross-sector convening of people who wanted to solve intersecting community problems like lack of workforce participation, labor shortages, the opioid crisis, lack of clear direction after high school, youth outmigration, and public health needs. BB2C and their network partners continually find that CCCL:

  • builds connections between community systems by involving people in a wide array of programs;

  • provides meaningful, direct engagement across sectors–a program of action;

  • strengthens the connections between sectors;

  • connects students to local assets, knowledge, culture, opportunities, and the adult world of work, ultimately enhancing the entire community; and

  • understands youth, and their need to be involved in a wide variety of opportunities in order for them to be successful

The Summit answers a number of questions by having the presenters share examples, ideas, and models. Questions include:

  • What is Community & Career Connected Learning?

  • How can collaboration lead to success?

  • How can collaborative efforts address workforce needs in our community?

  • What can STEM & STEAM Partnerships look like?

  • How does higher education impact Community & Career Connected Learning?

  • How can YOU collaborate?

One goal of the Summit is to inspire and support those interested in exploring or engaging in this work. We are grateful to our Summit Sponsor, Peoples Bank and our Summit partners, Southern State Community College Brown County Campus and Ohio Tech Prep and SuccessBound.

We hope to SEE YOU AT THE SUMMIT! If you have not yet registered, you can do so at bb2careers.org/summit.
